Overview of Ticklers

Ticklers are designed to provide you with a flexible system that will:

  • Prompt you when a task needs to be started.

  • Track the status of the tasks needed to complete an accounting.

How Ticklers Work

Once a ticklers has been created, it will "pop up" at a predetermined time to alert you to a task that needs your attention.

Ticklers have two dates:

  • The due date. The date that the activity must be complete.

  • The reminder date. This is the number of days before the due date that the tickler will start reminding you. Example: If an activity is due on December 30, you might set the tickler to start reminding you 7 days before the due date. In that case, the tickler would first be displayed on December 23.

Ticklers can be set to be due:

  • On a specific date

  • A specified number of days after the date of death

  • A specified number of days after the appointment of the executor.

On multi-user systems, the tickler can have a user assigned to it, and it will only be displayed when that person is using Heritance.

Tickler Status

Each tickler can have one of three status levels at any given time:

  • Not started

  • Started. The start date will be recorded.

  • Completed. The completion date will be recorded.

Reports

Reports can be generated showing ticklers outstanding, due, started, and completed for each client or all clients.
